The State already has excellent Optical Fibre network. Nearly half of the 513 telephone exchanges of BSNL in the State are already on reliable media. The rest are expected to be on reliable media by December 2002. BSNL had an OFC route length of 3000 kilometres in October 2001. This was planned to be increased to 6000 kilometres by March 2002. Bharti Telecommunications had Optical Fibre network of over 2200 kilometres in the State in October 2001. Bharti had plans to add another 5000 kilometres by March 2002.
